What does 'Healthy' mean? vol.2

After all my physical condition was getting better as getting away from my daily life in Japan. Being stimulate my curiosity, talking to the local people and photographing them was the best tranquilizer to me.

More over, what makes change my thought on 'Health' was physique of Samoan people. They, form kids to grownups, were heavy set. But in Samoa the big body looks so dignified. Contrary to the looks, they were friendly and charming enough.

Oh, what do I want to say ... ? Yeah, Being put a measuring tape around my berry, taken blood and collated my medical checkup data with the national guide line, is it appropriate health improvement for everybody? I rethought of that in Samoa, and was set free from the stress by seeing the Samoan people's big body.

As I was relieved, I got hungry. Girls coming back from high school were walking on the rural road with an ice cream. "Where did you buy that?" "At a stall in front of the school" Must go there ... The shop woman told me it had all gone with kids. But my mind was filled up with hundreds scoops of ice-cream. As soon as I went back to town, I rushed into an ice-cream parlor. Oh, I'll never think about dietary restriction any more, just eat which I want. Cocoyam, bonito, BBQ and ... again cocoyam. "Wait a minute, a green salad is insufficient" My healthholic recurred.

From what I've written so far, it sounds like Samoan people just eat. But it's not true. They work out in daily life. They walk a lot for instance. A concrete breakwater which surrounds Apia bay was a walking and jogging course. Many people worked out in the evening. Dieting, the world trend, is quite popular in Samoa too, especially within the young and women. But I may not be attracted by Samoa where slender people's walkin' by.
Then I got new information "The Samoan people's big body comes from their gene for surviving under tough food conditions of the isolated island. They can save calories as fat" It's too late for hearing about that. I've been unrestrained and eaten so much in this laid-back island.
