Nagorno-Karabakh vol.2

The picture of Nagorno-Karabakh has been repainted every big conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan as shown on the history of Shusha. The biggest difference from a picture is that there was that people, not only soldiers but civilians, were killed every when it's repainted. The victorious country burn out the loser's district or sometime killed the residents. Through that, the hatred each other has been exacerbated.

Actually, the conflict on Nagorno-Karabakh has been happen almost every year. However this armed crush is the most serious after 1992. Along with being executed the ceasefire agreement, Russian peace keeping forces come into the region and observe not to be repeated tragic history.
In the conflict, Azerbaijan had an advantage with huge money and modern weapons, drones for example. They won back Shusha and was reaching to Stepanakert. The battle claimed victims for both countries, although Armenia side got more victims both soldiers and civilians. So the ceasefire agreement at this point must be a painful decision for Pashinyan, PM of Armenia.

The agreement says that all the area Azerbaijan got in this war plus the area where Armenia has occupied since the victory of the war in 1992 will be returned to Azerbaijan. The needle which pointed Armenia fully swing back to Azerbaijan now.
Armenian people was quite disappointed for the result and made a demonstration for demanding resignation of the prime minister. In my impression, Armenian is quiet and patient. It's so painful for them to demonstrate.

But with looking back the history, I think the agreement doesn't bring the lasting peace of Nagorno-Karabakh.
Long time ago, when I visited Palestine, I was often asked by the people "Do you have any ideas for settling the conflict with Israel?" For my opinion, they just shrugged. "Well, what you said has been said here for decades. But nothing is proceeding" Why they cannot live together? Why they cannot squarely share it. The third person like me simply think like that.
While there is no country on neutral ground to lead them to the peace, the only solution must be on the peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan themselves. What the third country should do is not a military assistance on one side but making the air for the peace talks. And one more thing, the both countries must verify the painful history together. I wish the real peace comes to Nagorno-Karabakh some day.
