Don't be strong against it but accept

Following last year's Indonesia, I visited to Samoa in South Pacific. "Tropical Islands of the south should be kept as my trump in future" Nevertheless the vow, I use the trumps too much these years. Oceania, where I hadn't known, was so attractive.

Samoa is a tropical country which is close to equator. And now, March, is the rainy season. Actually, I checked it in advance, although I completely under estimated the rainy season. Rain after rain every day. I heard the rainfall in Samoa's March is three times of the Japan's June, also rainy season.
Even though, cannot photograph as long as I stay in the hotel room. So I go out with an umbrella. Usually there is no rain sign when I leave in the morning. However suddenly sky is covered in gray and I feel rain drops. Before long the rain's getting harder. But not for long time. After that the quick change of weather repeats during rest of day time. With hot steamy climate it's a really tough condition for a photographer.
Of course, the weather doesn't bother the local people. They are accustomed to the weather. They shelter into a FALE, traditional simple house with roof and columns. The student is walking to home from a school without umbrella or even shoes.

Global warming pushes up the temperature in summer. It's suggested to use an air conditioner for heatstroke prevention in Japan. However, ironically, I have not experienced awfully hot weather both Indonesia and here Samoa. Opening windows or turning on a ceiling fan works really good. Japan's extremely hot summer must be due to Urban Heat Island Phenom. more than the global warming. The hot air in the city also flows into the outer skirt. But, unfortunately, it reached to the level that the people cannot stop for using air conditioner.
On the other hand, Samoa which is consisted by two main islands, Upolu and Sabaii, is still covered by unspoiled nature. Abundant rainfall in the mountains makes hundreds of rivers and waterfalls. Tropical flowers are blooming. It's a paradise for lives. "Do not resist the rain but accept the rain" It must be the Polynesian way for facing the nature.
