Atlantic City vol.1
Weekend night, the bus runs from a corner of Chinatown in NY. A friend of mine got a ticket for the bus in advance. I heard it's so competitive to get the platinum ticket.
The bus is almost full when we get on. Most of them were the white old
nevertheless it leaves from the Chinatown. The bus heads to the west on
Canal st. and passes under Hudson river by tunnel. The destination is Atlantic
city. A casino town. Las Vegas of the east coast. The bus is running to
the south on the highway through the night forests in NJ. About two hours
later, we suddenly get into a sea of the neon signs. Then the conductor
gets start handing out 14 dollars.
As my friend told me, we get 14 bucks with just learning against the seat
back. The bus was free fare. The 14 bucks is a present for the customer
as a seed money for a casino. How they can make a business with the system?
As guessing more simple way, the sponsor must be some casino hotel in Atlantic
City. And they make it if the customers will spend more money than they
expense. But I'm quite sure there are no milliner who spend a huge money
for the casino in the bus. Is the casino city in such a tight finance?
The people are going into casino grasping the seed money. Then me and my
friends too ...
I'm a miser person. But not so much snatching the money and go away. I'm
not a square person who spends exact 14 dollars and no more neither. I
spend some extra for enjoying the casino. The free bus promotion is certainly
effective.
Once again, I'm miser, sound in another word. So I've never addicted on
gambling. Because I don't expect I can win. So why I cannot win? Coz I
don't spend so much. If you wanna get a jackpot, you need an appropriate
investment.
As a result, I've spent all the pin money for small amount slot machine and roulette quickly. And now I'm walking on the boardwalk in the hours between night and morning.
I've been Atlantic City three times or four in my NY days. Sometime went
by bus, the others by car. I always lost in early hours, got a bunch of
spare time and took a walk on the seaside boardwalk. No, I'm not sure it
was actually on the seaside. Because I only know Atlantic City in the night.
But I heard squawk of the seagull high above and I felt wet sea breeze
on my cheek. Maybe I loved the huge spare of time in the weekend night
more than the casino.
5:00 am. The passengers come back to the bus. The winners who were talking
the story in a proud, the losers who became talking less ... nobody cannot
win the sleepiness. As hearing their breathing, I fall into a sleep. When
I wake up and look out of the window, I see skyscrapers of Manhattan is
reflecting Sunday morning sunshine.
